Yes. A student may petition the Committee on Academic Policy and Standards (CAPS) to change grades of WN, WU, FIN or INC to W, or to assign a grade of W in a course during the current semester for which the tenth-week deadline has passed (this is called a retroactive withdrawal). The academic department must certify the student's last date of class attendance, and the student must provide evidence of the extenuating circumstance that prevented official withdrawal by the deadline. To petition CAPS, students must complete the download and complete the petition paperwork by visiting the website of the office of Student Academic Services.

WU is assigned to students who participated a minimum of one class, completely stopped participating at any time before final exam week, and never officially withdrew.
