Welcome Message from President Keizs
Welcome to the Spring Semester 2014!
I look forward to collaborating on another successful semester culminating in our usual magnificent commencement ceremonies with all the attendant good news. And yes, I used the word ceremonies since I am preparing to act on a recommendation from the Commencement Committee to host three distinct ceremonies by school on May 30, 2014. An email in that regard will be published later this week.
This semester we will build upon the successes of last year's accomplishments such as our recent First Annual Pinning Ceremony and Research Presentations for Occupational Therapy. We were also delighted with the pinning ceremony for our first cohort from the Generic Nursing Program, when we also celebrated a large cohort of RN to BSN graduates.
Many of you may have also noticed the poster promoting two very special guests as part of our Black History Month celebrations. Legendary entertainer Bill Cosby and Businessman Frank Savage will be at York on the evening of February sixth to discuss their respective new books. The college community is invited to the event in the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center.
Also on the calendar, on February 27 we will have our annual College Symposium. As always, it will take place in the Little Theater of the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. At this time we will update you on some of the important developments at York such as assessment, advisement and budget. Please consult the website calendar for reminders as the time draws closer.
Finally, I look forward to continuing our other conversations as a college community and remind all of you to take advantage of my "Open Fridays" sessions. Just call, email or visit my office for an appointment to share your ideas or concerns with me.
