Dr. Magalie Alcindor a licensed Registered Professional Nurse in the state of New York, currently holding the rank of an Assistant Professor. The specialized area of her Doctoral degree is Nursing Education. Dr. Alcindor is passionate about the lived experiences of foreign-born students in nursing academia, mainly the transformational changes required to navigate their new educational environment here in the U.S. Dr. Alcindor has extensive clinical, lab and classroom teaching experiences. Her experiences entail teaching in both the graduate and undergraduate level in the nursing program. As an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Alcindor served as mentors for graduate students working toward earning their Nurse Practitioner Degree. Dr. Alcindor is an experienced writer and reviewer for peer reviewed nursing journals. Dr. Alcindor has multiple publications in Tier-1 Nursing Journals and has presented at the local, national, and international stage. Her background in writing also includes mentoring nursing students’ research and presentations. Dr. Alcindor also collaborated with peers to develop a Master’s level course and a certificate program in obstetrics for students majoring in the Health Sciences and Nursing. After many attempts and attending Boot-Camp Award Training Programs every academic year (2019-2025). I was blessed to earn the PSC-CUNY TRADA-55-150 grant award. This funding will support the multi-site CUNY wide research to explore: “Foreign-Born Nursing Students’ Experience in Nursing Program.” Dr. Alcindor is passionate about cultural awareness and transforming minds to enhance nursing education, research, and practice.
