Shayla Pruitt Honored as Employee of the Month for July
Shayla Pruitt was recognized as York College's Employee of the Month, acknowledging her "commitment to excellence" and a host of glowing commendations that speak to her value to the institution.

Pruitt, Director of First Year Experience (FYE) and Mentoring in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, was celebrated for her dedication to student success and her collaborative approach in advancing the goals of her office, the division, and the college as a whole.
As read by President Claudia V. Schrader, the nomination highlighted Pruitt's "calm under pressure, efficiency, adaptability, and remarkable ability to think outside the box." She was praised as a "true team player" with an "unwavering commitment to excellence and effective communication."
Dr. Karen Williams, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, also shared words of admiration. "I am just so grateful for your tenacity," said Dr. Williams, addressing the honoree. "Thank you for saying 'yes' all the time and for your willingness to ensure our students feel welcomed. You represent the best part of our division."
In her remarks, Pruitt acknowledged the contributions of colleagues who help make her work possible. "I don't do this by myself," she said, naming several teammates from across the division (Roosevelt Smith, assistant director of First-Year Experience and Mentoring; Mondell Sealy, Career Services manager; Jessica Jackson, assistant professor, Outreach and Assessment Librarian; Keisha Clements, Wellness specialist, Student Health Services, and Suemanda Pompey, ACE career specialist)
"I am very appreciative of this honor," Pruitt said. "I am fortunate to work within a college community that is invested in the students we serve and in the initiatives the Office of FYE and Mentoring implements to support the success of our students."
