Student Wellness and Resources Shines at CUNY ADA Celebration

York College Student Wellness and Resources recently participated in the CUNY-wide celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Anniversary.

The event, held at Queens College, brought together a diverse group of participants, including CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, Executive Vice Chancellor & University Provost Wendy Hensel, Vice Chancellor Denise Maybank, and elected officials such as NYS Senator Toby Stavisky and NYS Assemblymembers Khaleel Anderson, Harvey Epstein, and David Weprin. Their presence highlighted the ADA's importance and dedication to supporting students with disabilities.

The celebration featured a vibrant BBQ, interactive activities, food, dancing and inspiring speeches from both community leaders and students. These speeches emphasized the collective effort and personal dedication involved in advancing accessibility and inclusivity.

York College Student Wellness and Resources showcased various initiatives aimed at supporting student well-being, including Disability Services, Health Services, Mental Health, and LGBTQI+ services. Their participation in the event was a testament to their ongoing dedication to enhancing the student experience and ensuring equal opportunities for all.

Students and staff were honored for their outstanding work on accessibility, with their contributions celebrated as integral to making York College and CUNY more inclusive. This recognition underscored the impact of individual and collective efforts in promoting a more accessible campus.
