Dr. Carrasquilla-Lopez joined the York College Nursing Department in the fall of 2020 as an assistant professor. She is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. With more than 35 years of clinical experience in neonatal, pediatric, and maternal-child health, she has extensive expertise in neonatal intensive care, breastfeeding and lactation support, nursing education, and simulation-based learning. Dr. Carrasquilla-Lopez's scholarly interests include breastfeeding education, maternal-child health outcomes, nursing student self-efficacy, health equity, and evidence-based neonatal practice. She is actively involved in quality improvement initiatives, research, and faculty mentorship with numerous presentations and publications focused on nursing education, neonatal care, and lactation advocacy.
