Steps to Take a CLEP Exam at York College
- Plan Your Exam
Before registering, check with the Office of the Registrar Transfer Unit at transfereval@york.cuny.edu to confirm your chosen exam meets your degree requirements. - Register on College Board
Purchase your CLEP exam at the College Board website.
Use York College’s institution code 2992 to ensure your scores are sent directly. - Reserve Your Seat
After registering, secure your testing seat through Register Blast.
Pay the $36 non-refundable administration fee online and bring your receipt on test day.

What to Bring on Exam Day
- Photo ID: A valid government-issued ID matching your registration name.
- Register Blast Ticket: Proof of your seat reservation.
- College Board Receipt: Proof of test exam number.
- Preparedness: Arrive 30 minutes early to the Testing Center in Room AC-1G05 (Academic Core Building).
Special Benefits for Military Members
Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard members can take their first CLEP exam for free (exam fee waived). Administration fees still apply.
Need to Retake the Exam?
You can retake a CLEP exam after a 3-month waiting period. Exams taken earlier will be canceled, and fees forfeited.
