For Online CTM students, ONLY
All student complaints regarding the Online CTM program must start with the York College student complaint procedure.
You can file a student complaint on the College website. As a student in the Online CTM program, you are protected by the rules and regulations of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a non-profit organization that exists to help “expand students’ access to educational opportunities and ensure more efficient, consistent, and effective regulation of distance education programs.” In short, NC-SARA exists to increase opportunities for online education and to protect students as consumers of online education. It is important to keep in mind that SARA complaints DO NOT include complaints regarding grades or student conduct violations. Instead, SARA complaints pertain to dishonesty, false/misleading information, or fraud with respect to the delivery of online instruction. Thus, SARA complaints are better understood as consumer protection complaints. NC-SARA insists that students initiate all relevant complaints within the College. If the student and the College are unable to resolve the issue, then the student may submit a complaint to SARA, following the process articulated on the SARA website.
This page also contains the student complaint process for the New York State Department of Education. Finally, you will find the NC-SARA complaint procedures here
