American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)
The AAMC administers the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and operates the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) which facilitate students applying to medical schools and residency programs, respectively.
The American Medical Association (AMA)
founded in 1847 and incorporated in 1897, the AMA is the largest association of physicians—both MDs and DOs—and medical students in the United States. The AMA's stated mission is "to bring together physicians and communities to improve the nation’s health." The Association also publishes the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The AMA also publishes a list of Physician Specialty Codes which are the standard method in the U.S. for identifying physician and practice specialties.

American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM)
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is a professional doctoral degree for physicians and surgeons offered by medical schools in the United States. A D.O. graduate may become licensed as an osteopathic physician, having equivalent rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a physician who has earned the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. D.O. physicians are licensed to practice the full scope of medicine and surgery in 65 countries, and in all 50 U.S. states. They constitute 7% of all U.S. physicians. As of 2016, there were more than 129,000 osteopathic medical physicians and osteopathic medical students in the United States.

Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP)
The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools. These students include, but are not limited to, individuals who identify as African American/Black, American Indian and Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino, and who are from communities of socioeconomic and educational disadvantage. SHPEP, formerly known as the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP), expanded in 2016 to include a broader array of health professions.
