Commencement

Start your Commencement journey by confirming your eligibility! If you have already applied for graduation in CUNYfirst, you should have received an email from the Office of the Registrar detailing your outstanding degree requirements. Eligible students will have a potential graduate hold (REG GRAD) assigned to their record by late March. Ineligible students will receive a follow up email from the Office of the Registrar.

If you have not applied yet, do it now in CUNYfirst:

1. Go to your Student Center and click the Graduation tile.
2. Under York College, click the "Select to Apply" button to change it from No to Yes.
3. Choose the available term, click Apply at the bottom right.
4. Click Next on each page to verify your details.
5. On the last page, click Submit and confirm by clicking Yes.

Missed the November 17 deadline?

Starting February 23, 2026, students enrolled in ALL remaining degree requirements can email Nilsa Watson (nwatson1@york.cuny.edu) from their York email to request a switch to Spring 2026 graduation.

Deadline to email is April 13.
