Hundreds Attend Fall 2024 New Student Orientation
At our New Student Orientation, students had the opportunity to hear from the College’s leadership and connect in fun ways with the faculty, staff and current students
Hundreds of incoming first-year and transfer students participated in York College’s Fall 2024 New Student Orientation (NSO) on Thursday for a day filled with excitement.
“New Student Orientation is the culmination of the work we do as a College to promote our rigorous academic programs and rich co-curricular experiences at York. NSO is our opportunity to welcome our newest Cardinals and ensure they feel a sense of belonging, connection, and excitement about the journey upon which they are about to embark. Every new class represents a future student leader, a potential athlete, a research assistant, and eventually, future alumni,’ said Dr. Karen Williams, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
The program opened with welcome greetings from Dr. Williams and Dr. James Salnave, AVP/Dean of Students in the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Following the welcome were a diverse range of activities including panel discussions, information sessions, icebreaker activities, lunch provided by Shake Shack, workshops, and more.
Tashawna Ford, a transfer student majoring in health science, found the NSO meaningful. “What I am most excited about attending York College is meeting new people, building relationships, and exploring different career options,” she said.
"We're excited to welcome our newest Cardinals to York College, where our New Student Orientation program is more than an introduction—it's the start of an empowering journey. With comprehensive resources, support systems, and opportunities for growth, we’re committed to ensuring every student’s success as they take flight into their future," said Dr. Salnave.
Shoutout to the orientation team that did an amazing job! As a reminder, the fall classes are set to begin on August 28, marking the official start of the academic year.
