In a few months, we will be offering FREE tutoring for ACT. Before you can be a part of this great experience, the following MUST done in the order listed below:
Make sure to enter 'York STEP' as your school when taking the test.
Register early to secure your spot!
The STEP Program can reimburse any SAT/ACT test that was taken during the 2025-2026 school year! Please email us at step@york.cuny.edu with a receipt.
The SAT Practice Test will be done digitally, which provides the opportunity for you to take it at your convenience. You can start doing your test at any time;
To get started, complete the York College STEP Program SAT Registration Form. Then, follow the instructions using the SAT Practice Test Link to take your SAT Practice Test.

Exposure to STEM careers increases a student's likelihood to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As part of York College’s Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), we are scheduling STEM Trips for you and your family. Let’s prove that we can learn about science and technology anywhere while staying safe and healthy.
The York STEP Team will offer free tutoring for the SAT and ACT in early 2026. Our tutors will be specialized to assist in reading, writing, mathematics, and science. Learn important study skills and strategies to prepare you for the test! For Practice tests, kindly see SAT and ACT Practice Test.
College Now participants must be NYC public school or state-funded private school students.

It is never too early to start. Join our College Now classes and earn college credits!! BUS201 Computer Applications in Business is one of our fantastic College Now course opportunities. BUS201 introduces students to the design and implementation of computerized information systems, covering applications that include computerized spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, and database management.

York STEP Students entering 10-12 grade can apply now for the York STEP Summer Research Program. Apply now to gain valuable STEM research experience and earn a $1,000 stipend.
Selected students will join college faculty research programs, attend seminars, and participate in exciting scholarly events. The STEP Summer Research Program will begin on 07/05/2026 and continue for seven weeks. The program will culminate the student presentations at York College STEP Day of Service (date coming soon) (Please email step@york.cuny.edu for further details.
Non-STEP students must first complete the STEP general application before applying to York College CSTEP Program Application.
Current STEP Students should submit the following York College STEP Summer Research Program application.
A faculty committee will review the applications and select participants.

Join our virtual summer coding Bootcamp, and you can pick up some coding skills. You will learn various programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from scratch. In addition, you will gain the skills needed to build websites and get started on becoming a web developer.

We’re excited to invite you to York College STEP’s upcoming Day of Service on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM! The event will be held in Room 2D01 at the York College Academic Core campus (94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11451).
One of the highlights of this event will be the Spring 2026 STEM Research Presentations. Students who participated in our Spring Research Program will showcase their projects, diving into topics that reflect their curiosity, hard work, and growing expertise in science, technology, and social impact. You won’t want to miss these thoughtful and innovative presentations!

“Build, Code, Compete: Tech Explorers!”
In this 4-week camp, students will dive into the world of cybersecurity, blockchain, and artificial intelligence through interactive lessons, coding challenges, and real-world projects. From tracing web requests and encrypting messages to building a mini blockchain and training chatbots, participants will explore the cutting edge of computer engineering while working together in teams.

“Build, Code, Compete: Robotics Adventure!”
This fast-paced, 2-week robotics camp introduces students to the foundations of robotics design and coding using kits like LEGO Mindstorms or VEX IQ. Students will work in teams to build robots, program them to complete missions, and prepare for the thrilling Robot Games Showcase, where they’ll compete in challenges like obstacle courses and object pickup.
