Bystander Intervention Training
Faculty Dining Room, 2D01

In collaboration with the York College Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Women's Center for Gender Justice
Using methods from Bringing in the Bystander, Right to Be, and Green Dot programs, this workshop provides an in-depth look at being a prosocial bystander. Participants identify what it means to be a prosocial bystander, barriers to intervening, and reasons to intervene, and situations where intervention may be helpful. They learn about affirmative consent and situations in which consent has not been given, as well as how violence works and intersects with oppressive systems. Finally, participants learn about the strategies for intervening using the 5 Ds and have an opportunity to practice intervening through different scenarios!
