York STEP Virtual Tutoring

Would you like a Tutor to double-check your homework, prepare for final exams/projects, practice for the Regents, or give you test-taking tips and academic advice?

SAT/ACT Fee Reimbursement

The STEP Program can reimburse any SAT/ACT test that was taken during the 2022-2023 school year! Please email us at step@york.cuny.edu with a receipt.

STEP Field Trips

(for all grades!)

Exposure to STEM careers increases a student's likelihood to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As part of York College’s Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), we are scheduling STEM Trips for you and your family. Let’s prove that we can learn about science and technology anywhere while staying safe and healthy.

Scratch Coding Class

Scratch is a free coding language and online community. Its easy-to-use interface can be appreciated at any age. Learn to create games, animations, and more!

Our Scratch Coding class will meet every Saturday from 10/8/22 - 12/10/22.

No prior experience is required!

SAT/ACT Tutoring and Practice Exams

The York STEP Team will offer free tutoring for the SAT and ACT in early 2023. Our tutors will be specialized to assist in reading, writing, mathematics, and science. Learn important study skills and strategies to prepare you for the test!

Summer Research Program

(for students entering 11 - 12 grade in Fall 2022) Application closed.

York STEP Students entering 11-12 grade in Fall 2022 can apply now for the York STEP Summer Research Program. Apply now to gain valuable STEM research experience and earn a $1,000 stipend.

Selected students will join college faculty research programs, attend seminars, and participate in exciting scholarly events. The STEP Summer Research Program will begin on 7/1/22 and continue for six weeks. The program will culminate the first week of August with student presentations at York College's High School and Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Non-STEP students must first complete the STEP general application before applying to York College STEP Program Application.

Current STEP Students should submit the following York College STEP Summer Research Program application.

A faculty committee will review the applications and select participants. The application deadline extended to 6/27/22!

York STEP Chromebook Loan Program

(for all grades)

Get a Chromebook for the summer!

Students borrow and use our Chromebooks for one year. So get a STEP Chromebook today and STEM up your fun this summer! Supplies are limited, and a waitlist will start if all devices are on loan.

York STEP Python

Learn to think like a scientist with this popular STEM software. No prerequisite is required! We will have two separate virtual classes on Saturdays and Sundays.

(for grades 8-12)

(for students in 10-12 grade in Fall 2022) Application closed

College Now participants must be NYC public school or state-funded private school students. York STEP students can choose to enroll in one College Now course for the Summer 2022 semester.

CS172 - Computer Science I, Fall 2022 (Saturdays 9 AM - 1 PM)
It is never too early to start. Join our College Now classes and earn college credits!! CS172 Computer Science I is one of our fantastic College Now course opportunities. CS172 offers an introduction to computer science with a strong emphasis on a systematic approach to problem-solving. Core programming principles are also introduced and illustrated through examples in high-level programming languages such as C++ and natural and social sciences and finance applications.

BUS201 - Computer Applications in Business, Fall 2022 (Saturdays 9 AM - 1 PM)

It is never too early to start. Join our College Now classes and earn college credits!! BUS201 Computer Applications in Business is one of our fantastic College Now course opportunities. BUS201 introduces students to the design and implementation of computerized information systems, covering applications that include computerized spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, and database management.

Registration for the Fall semester will open in August 2022.

HTML + CSS Coding Summer Bootcamp

(July - August 2022) Application closed

Join our virtual summer coding Bootcamp, and you can pick up some coding skills. You will learn various programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from scratch. In addition, you will gain the skills needed to build websites and get started on becoming a web developer.
