2013 Health Insurance Transfer Period

The Health Insurance Transfer Period for employees will take place:

November 1st through November 30th.

The effective date for Transfer Period Changes for employees is the first day of the full pay period in January 2014.

Employees who expect to retire between November 1 and December 31, 2013 should review the health plan information carefully to determine which health plan will best meet their needs upon retirement. The effective date of the transfer period is the date of retirement.

During this Transfer Period employees can:

  • Change their medical plans
  • Add or drop optional riders
  • Add or drop dependents

This includes the Young Adult Dependent between the ages of 19 and 26

Once an employee submits changes during the change period, the application cannot be withdrawn or altered even if the Transfer Period has not ended. The change is irrevocable until the next Transfer Period.

In order to honor all transfer period requests, employees are required to complete the Health Benefits Application form. For those employees adding a young adult dependent between the ages of 19 and 26, you must also complete the Young Adult Eligibility Certification form.
