Using Google Scholar

Did you know that you can link Google Scholar to the York Library's databases?

Google Scholar is free and indexes content from many academic publishers, but many of the links it provides are not free.  Since the York Library has subscriptions to some of the materials included in Google Scholar, we have set up links between it and some of our reference databases.

If you are using a computer on the York campus, Google Scholar will recognize the IP address and you will see links to the right of some of the citations that say "Find full-text at York."

If you are using a computer from off-campus, you can link your Google account to York, so the “Find fulltext at York” links will always appear if you're logged into your Google account.

From Google Scholar, click on the navigation menu (i.e., the three parallel lines) in the upper left corner of the screen. Go to Settings and then click on Library Links. Use the library access links search box to look for York College, then check the box for York College CUNY and click Save.

If you routinely use the same computer or browser, taking a minute to set this up once will save you a lot of time in the long run since Google will remember your York affiliation from now on.
