Eligibility Criteria
NSF S-STEM at York College Program Eligibility and Retention Criteria
Eligibility (for current York students)
To qualify, a successful applicant,
- Must be a citizen of the United States, national of the United States, alien admitted as a refugee, or alien lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 credits per semester) in the following majors: Chemistry (BA/BS), Computer Science (BS), Mathematics (BA/BS), or Physics (BS). Students who have not declared their major in their Freshmen year must indicate the 'intended major' in one of the eligible majors.
- Must obtain Pell Grant eligibility via the FAFSA to receive an award.
- Must agree to participate in seminar courses, which include multidisciplinary STEM projects and/or research components.
- Must agree to participate in a cohort in foundational math courses (if applicable).

To qualify, a successful applicant,
- Must be a citizen of the United States, national of the United States, alien admitted as a refugee, or alien lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 credits per semester) in the following majors: Chemistry (BA/BS), Computer Science (BS), Mathematics (BA/BS), or Physics (BS). Students who have not declared their major in their Freshmen year must indicate the 'intended major' in one of the eligible majors.
- Must obtain Pell Grant eligibility via the FAFSA to receive an award.
- Must have an 85% high school average.
- Must agree to participate in seminar courses, which include multidisciplinary STEM projects and/or research components.
- Must agree to participate in a cohort in foundational math courses.
Retention Criteria
- Maintain a cumulative overall GPA of at least 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in the courses required for the major. *
- Must continue to be enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 credits per semester) in the following majors: Chemistry (BA/BS), Computer Science (BS), Mathematics (BA/BS), or Physics (BS).
- A scholar recipient is also expected to:
* Scholars who do not meet the GPA requirement will be placed on probation for one semester and work with a mentor on a remediation plan to increase the GPA.
