Admitted scholars will participate in two types of cohorts-one freshman year and one lasting from sophomore through senior years.
Freshman Year
During freshman year, NSF S-STEM at York College scholars will participate in seminars run by a mentor that will complement their Pre-Calculus/Calculus courses. These foundational seminars will develop connections among the students and faculty, facilitate advising and mentoring and improve the scholars’ success in their math classes.
Sophomore through Senior Years
In their sophomore through senior years, the NSF S-STEM at York College scholars will participate in theme-based independent studies courses that will be taught by a trained faculty mentor. Furthermore, under their mentors' guidance, the scholars will investigate STEM graduate programs and careers.
