The Office of Student Activities hosts a session of the Institute, a LeaderShape program that challenges participants to lead with integrity while working toward a vision grounded in their deepest values.
Participants explore not only what they want to do, but also who they want to be. During the week, participants will have an opportunity to meet and work with more than 50 students from diverse backgrounds, as well as create a personal vision—an individual commitment to creating a positive change in the world. The Institute is designed to provide an environment that encourages personal leadership development. Due to our wonderful support and sponsorship of the Student Government Association and the College Association, attending the Institute is at no cost to participants.
LeaderShape at York College returns in 2024! Applications will open November 13 for sessions to be hosted in the spring. Want to learn more about the LeaderShape experience? Attend one of our upcoming info sessions during the application window:
All selected participants will need to create a profile on the LeaderShape database, including uploading a headshot.
Who should apply?
The curriculum was created for individuals committed to engaging in personal leadership development work and who want to make a significant impact on campus, in their communities, and in the world. At York College, the application is available for all undergraduate students.
Who facilitates the institute?
The institute is facilitated by York College and CUNY faculty, staff, and South Jamaica community members who are invested in LeaderShape's mission of a just, caring, and thriving world where all lead with integrity and have a healthy disregard for the impossible. As we build the faculty team for each session, we invite you to contact us with your interest in serving as a cluster facilitator.
