Legal Affairs and Labor Relations
The mission of the Office of Legal Affairs & Labor Relations is to protect York College from adverse legal and financial consequences that result from the acts or omissions of its employees and to provide advice and guidance to college officials on a wide range of legal matters, including governance, ethical questions, collective bargaining issues, legal inquiries such as FOIL requests, contracts, grievances, discipline and litigation, and a broad range of policy questions affecting the College and its related entities.
The Office provides a variety of legal services and support to the President, York College officials, departments and offices of the College, and related entities. The purpose of this webpage is to allow members of York's community to become more familiar with our Office, its functions and operations, and other resources that may be of use to faculty, staff or students, such as important University policies and procedures.
The Office responsibilities include, but are not limited to collective bargaining, investigation of complaints, employee grievances, immigration, mediating employee disputes and assuring compliance with laws governing employment and contract interpretation.
We hope the information on this webpage will be useful to the College community.
The Office of Legal Affairs & Labor Relations does not provide personal legal advice or representation to York faculty members, staff or students. If you need an attorney for personal matters please see the following link to the 'Legal Assistance Resource Information' - which is a list of free or reduced cost legal services in non-criminal legal matters in the New York City Metropolitan area.
