2024-25 FAFSA Changes

2024-25 FAFSA Changes

The FAFSA Simplification Act marks a substantial revamp of the procedures and systems employed to distribute federal student aid, commencing from the 2024–25 award year. This encompasses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, the need analysis process, and various policies and protocols for educational institutions engaged in federal student aid programs.

Furthermore, this legislation will have an impact on all states utilizing FAFSA data to allocate state grant aid and on every educational institution participating in federal student aid programs.

We will update this webpage as information becomes available.

Keys Changes

  • Simplified FAFSA application process.

  • The Student Aid Index (SAI) now takes the place of the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), presenting an alternative method for assessing aid eligibility.

  • Revised instructions dictate that, in cases of separated or divorced parents, the reporting of parent income for students is now based on the one providing the greatest financial support, as opposed to the parent residing at the student's primary residence.
