The first time you enter the Academic Core or other buildings that make up the York College campus there are a few things you should prepare yourself for. Below are a few of the more important ones:
1. Expect to be greeted by a Public Safety Officer who will expect to see ID either school issued or a state or city ID
2. Many entrances in the Academic Core and many buildings for different classes and activities. You may want to review our map of the campus and building locations, also check out our virtual tour.
3. Large Atrium when you enter the Academic Core building with many directions to go to, however to find your classroom or any specific location you can use one of the big Kiosks located at the entrance. You can also ask for directions from the Public Safety Officer
4. At the entrance of the Academic Core you will also find the York OneStop Center. This is a space where you can ask questions for the various student offices who have staff at the location or can summon staff as needed including Information Technology
5. At this time the Library may be closed or partially open, however there are locations for using computers and having the ability to print what you need as of right now there are three locations available: AC-2E03A, AC-3G01(StuGov't Lab) and the Classroom Building
6. When entering you are required to wear a mask and to keep that mask on when not eating
7. There is a coffee cafe (Star Bucks) in the Academic Core Atrium as you enter the building. They have seating available so you can take your break and relax
8. There are big TV display's in most common areas of the campus with York news and upcoming events
9. Expect to see large open spaces with most of the class rooms down alphabetically assigned corridors with access to rest rooms, elevators and escalators
10. In your classrooms you will find lecterns and Hyflex technology which allow for distance hybrid learning options. Depending on the course the technology may be different but the goal being the same to enhance your learning experience
11. You will also find help for your technology needs and issue or inquries. From the York website just search key word "IT" and you can start there
These are just a few of the key things you can expect, there are many more and always feel free to ask questions, send an email so you can "Know, B4 U Go"
