Excess Credit

York College allows students to take a certain amount of credits per semester based upon their Academic Standing. If you would like to petition to increase your credit limit for the semester, please follow the directions below.

Process

• The criteria to take excess credits is an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
• If you would like to petition for Excess Credits please download and fill out the Excess Credit petition found at the bottom of this webpage.
• Please write a short personal statement as to why you would like to petition for Excess Credits
• Once you have completed this, please upload both of your documents to the Office of Student Academic Services Secure Portal.

Summer/Winter Semester Application Criteria

In order for the CAPS Committee to review your request to take Excess Credits for Summer 2024 please be specific.

Please see the sample below, for the information, you will need to provide on the petition

(class, section, start-end date; is it 4 week 1, 7 week 1 , 10 week 1, or 4 week 2 )
