Sample Syllabi for Writing 300

Writing 300 is an upper level course focusing on the research process and the development and refinement of research writing skills. Syllabi for this course should include a complete weekly breakdown with assigned readings and deadlines for all major assignments.

In planning your course, please remember that the Research Paper for the course should be fully scaffolded, not just during the drafting and revision process, but throughout the research process itself. Many faculty aim to begin some part of that research process quite early in the semester, around weeks three or four.

The following sample syllabi are provided as Word files that may be downloaded and adapted as needed. Do note that both have been written for WRIT 303; they may be adapted for WRIT 301, 302, or 304. However, please make sure to use the appropriate Course Description for your course.
