Your YorkLive Email Account is moving

Dear students: Please be aware that your YorkLive email account is going to be migrated to Exchange (Outlook Live) on March 13th, 2012.

Outlook Live is Microsoft’s hosted suite of email and collaboration tools based on the best-in-class features of the Microsoft Exchange technology, which will replace your YorkLive email account .

We strongly recommend that you visit our link at http://www.york.cuny.edu/live-upgrade in order to get details on questions you may have regarding this migration.

All YorkLive email services will remain fully available while the technical work is performed in the background.  You will continue to login to your account via the York login page (  http://www.york.cuny.edu/student/email ) using the same credentials.  A noticeable change is the look and feel of the new service but you should be aware that not everything will migrate over.

What is migrated:

  • All e-mail in each mailbox, including the folder structure
  • All contacts

As the migration progresses, you might notice your messages trickling into your inbox.

What is not migrated:

  • Calendar information.  You can continue to use your Windows Live Calendar at https://calendar.live.com or manually transfer your calendar data from Windows Live calendar to Outlook Live calendar.   See Transfer Data from a Windows Live Calendar to Outlook or Outlook Web App.
  • E-mail signatures.
  • Messages that are larger than 35 MB.
  • Mailboxes that are larger than 10 GB are only partially migrated.

This migration is being done from the Central CUNY offices. York College is participating in order to provide the most current access to world class suite of communication services for our students.

We strongly recommend that you visit our link at http://www.york.cuny.edu/live-upgrade in order to get details on questions you may have regarding this migration.

Additionally we strongly recommend you visit your YorkLive mailbox after visiting the link above so that you can take action on anything you need to manually prepare for before the migration deadline of March 13 th , 2012.

If you have any questions after visiting the York link on migration information, please contact our Service Desk at 718-262-5300.

Thank you,
